BREAKING: PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER OF THE PDP, SET TO RECLAIM SEN. DARIYE’S SEAT AT NASS

There is strong indications that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Plateau State are already planning moves to press home their demand for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the seat of  Chief Sen. Joshua Dariye at the Upper chambers of the National Assembly  vacant for cross-carpeting from the PDP to the All progressive Congress (APC).

REALITY just gathered that the party at the state level would soon mobilize its members in the state, especially, its members in Plateau Central Senatorial Zone, to Abuja, to press home their demand this week, as it prepares for other legal options.

You would recall that during the Independence Day celebration in Jos, the state Chairman of PDP, Hon. Damishi Sango, had expressed confidence to his party members and supporters, that Sen. Dariye would vacate his seat very soon.

Sen. Dariye, a former governor of Plateau State, Popularly called “The Head Boy” among his political friends, had cited the current crisis in the PDP as reason for his defection as provided in Section 68(1,g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

However, in his Independence message, the Chairman of the PDP in Plateau state, Hon Sango had said in Hausa that the seat of Sen. Dariye would be filled by another member of the PDP soon. He claimed that there are several Supreme Court Judgments in support of his position.

He said, “we are stopping at nothing to explore all legal heights to get him to vacate the seat. He is an elder statesman, he should honourably leave the seat.”
